WHY HIGH SCHOOL HOCKEY?
Michigan High School Varsity Hockey has become a league of opportunity that is serious about developing elite level talented hockey players. What used to be a last stop before calling it quits from the game of hockey has turned into a 1st choice destination for playing hockey during a students high school years. As the years continue to fly by the MHSAA and our program continue to produce players that take their talents to the next level all over the hockey landscape.
Our goal every year is to make it to USA Hockey Arena and play the last possible game of the high school season and come out with a state title. However, that requires a certain level of discipline, commitment, and drive that will propel them to another level in their hockey career. The skills and knowledge they'll learn during their time with Farmington United will teach them ownership and accountability of their actions and personal development and growth both in hockey and in their lives.
In recent years our varsity team has competed in a variety of tournaments in the spring. TPH Progression program during the summer in addition to development camp and the founders day showcase. In the fall our team competes in the M1 Fall league out of Royal Oak in preparation for the winter season in which are team competes in the MHSAA sanctioned league. Many of our players have represented Farmington United with programs such as Michigan Legacy Hockey, TPH "Michigan Hockey Advancement, and the MDHL. Our 2024 graduating class promoted Chris Wilson to the USPHL and Ryan Elenich will soon land a spot on a junior team as well. Our team earned Academic All State honor for the second year in a row.

ACHAThe ACHA has become another amazing opportunity for college students to further their education while playing competitive hockey. Many of our Farmington United Alumni have gone on to play hockey in college at this level. Most have played for schools like Michigan State, Central Michigan, Adrian, Western Michigan, Oakland and a few others. Zach Massa (Oakland), Jared VanVelkenburg (Oakland), and Robbie Goldi (Michigan State) have each led their teams to National Championships. Massa and Goldi competed in Europe as members of the ACHA All-Star Teams. Zac Massa is the all-time point leader in Division III of the ACHA.

NAHL/USHLThe NAHL/USHL and many other junior leagues have given a lot of our alumni opportunities after graduating high school and moving on from high school hockey. Players such as Adam Phillips (USHL - Indiana Ice) and other players who led our teams to regional championships like DJ Vandercook (NAHL - Wenatchee Wild/USHL - Des Moines Buccaneers), and John Lethemon (USHL - Chicago Steel) who backstopped our 2014 State Championship team are a few among other alumni players who have played at the junior level and took ownership of their development. Their skill created opportunities, and their work ethic/determination opened doors.

NCAACollege Hockey offers some of the best hockey in the United States and we are proud to say a handful of our alumni have made it to that level and contributed heavily to their teams success. Unlike college football, basketball, and many other collegiate sports, ice hockey can sometimes take a little longer to reach. After high school most players can expect to grind it out through junior hockey if college hockey is their final destination. Working not only for a roster spot, but also scholarships and deciding which school will allow them the best opportunity to develop and play are all factors a young kid has to face on this journey. Most of our NCAA alum have graduated and played some level of semi-professional hockey.
